WHY SHOULD YOUR GROUP OF CO-WORKERS JOIN LOCAL 14-M?
Workers join, and participate in Local 14-M, because they can accomplish
more collectively than they can individually. Local 14-M helps members
solve mutual problems and guard against adverse unilateral management
decisions and influences. In addition, Local 14-M members exchange technical
information, develop shop leadership, promote the industry, and benefit
from assistance by full-time representation; which results in decent working
conditions, additional wages, better fringe benefits such as health and
welfare, pensions, and most important of all...dignity and justice on
the job.
Local 14-M can help accomplish all these things at little cost and with
utmost efficiency for both small and large shops. In short, helping workers
accomplish what they can't accomplish by themselves. That's why workers
join and participate in Local 14-M...it's a sound investment for
progress.
Our members, through Collective Bargaining have GUARANTEED Wages,
Pension, Health and Welfare Plans, Seniority, and a Grievance and Arbitration
procedure to GUARANTEE dignity and respect on the job. The majority
of these members enjoy the following benefits as provided by Local 14-M
under the collective bargaining process:
HEALTH BENEFITS: Hospital, medical, short-term disability, dental,
life insurance, and prescription drugs. One of the most important aspects
of your working life is providing adequate and cost effective health benefits
for you and your dependents. Local 14-M members have the satisfaction
of knowing that they receive through their union contract health benefits
that provide the type of protection every family needs
PENSION BENEFITS: The GCC/IBT offers two of the finest plans in the
industry. The first is provided to you as a member and is based on contributions
made by you. Annual contributions are tax deferred under Internal Revenue
Section 501 (c) (18) Plans. A summary plan description is available at your request.
The second plan is one in which as a member working under a "collective
bargaining agreement" with an employer, the employer is obligated to make
retirement fund contributions on your behalf based on a percentage of
your wages. The plan also provides a disability benefit.
Along with these benefits, these workers receive some of the highest wages in a high wage, highly technical graphic communications industry.
